Question by Arik Rozen:

Form 2848 authorizes a third party to representat a taxpayer before the IRS regarding a specific tax year, form or an audit. This will allow the taxpayer's representative to communicate with the IRS on the taxpayer's behalf without requiring additional time to communicate with the taxpayer directly. The second part of this form lists the requirements for someone to act as a taxpayer's representative. This declaration must be signed and dated by the representative for power of attorney to be transferred.
